Prosthetic dentistry is restoration of damaged or missing teeth with veneers, crowns, half-crowns, bridges, clasp and plastic prostheses. In other words, this is prosthesis that provides durability, aesthetics, reliability and stability. Prosthetics can be temporary or permanent, removable and non-removable, or fixed.
An orthopedic surgeon closely cooperates with other professionals: a dental technician, implantologist, orthodontist, endodontist. In other sections of the website you can learn about our doctors and their work. We should also mention the laboratory we work with, because both aesthetics and durability of manufactured units depend on their quality. “Veni, vidi, vitta” is not only a slightly modified famous phrase, but also the name of a well-known laboratory and company, whose materials are used to make various prosthetic units (crowns, half-crowns, inlays, veneers).
Today, in addition to already known metal-ceramic constructions, widely used are non-metal ones (zirconium crowns and bridges, all-ceramic crowns, half-crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays), whose advantage is not only in their aesthetic looks and lightness, but in accurate fitting (as the frames are produced with high-precision equipment, not by hand), and, most importantly, these materials do not oxidize, so your gums do not get inflamed afterwards and do not have “dark rainbows.”
Zirconium dental bridges are as strong as metal units, they are bioinert and light for loading the abutment, and very aesthetic, too.
Crowns, half-crowns, inlays, onlays are constructions that are made for a single tooth, to enable it to fully function and preserve it over time. Crowns and half-crowns are usually made for badly damaged teeth, or endodontically treated ones. Inlays and onlays are an alternative to filling.
Their main advantages are:
- a short period of time spent in the dentist’s chair (most of the work is done at a dental laboratory) – 30 to 60 min.;
- no subsidence of the material;
- accuracy in the reconstruction of occlusion;
- accuracy in the reconstruction of contact point;
- high aesthetics;
- durability of use (5 to 10 years).
Veneers are thin onlays on the front teeth. This is a highly aesthetic work that gives you an opportunity to “live with a smile.” Advantages over the restoration are as follows:
- a short period of time spent in the dentist’s chair (1 to 1.5 hours);
- possibility to see the resulting effect (when the shape or color of the tooth have been changed);
- no change in shape or color over time;
- very high aesthetics (natural looks);
- durability of use (8 to15 years).
Clasp dental prosthesis is a restoration of missing teeth with units that ensure the chewing function. Clasps can differ, depending on the location of the defect and the number of missing teeth. They are durable (their basis being metal) and very stable, as they are attached to your own teeth with special locks.
Plastic prostheses can be full and partial. You should not be afraid of them, they do not bite you, but they can bite, chew and eat food! They will help you look good, and eat properly. If, for some reason, you can not afford implants, do not go teethless! Most importantly, the prosthesis should be well-fixed, be made from non-toxic materials and have a smooth surface.
If necessary, we will make a prosthetic for you in 4 working days, and they will be of high quality, light and reliable.
